October Afternoon's Thursday Sketch

Hey everyone!  Long time, no see.  I was out of town for a bit, and it took me a little while to get back into the swing of things once I returned.  But I am back now, and I have some projects to share.

I created a sketch for the October Afternoon blog's Thursday sketch post recently, and I made two cards to using the sketch as inspiration.

Here is the sketch:

The first card I made for the sketch uses the Sasparilla collection. 

Since I created cards for this sketch, I adjusted it a bit to fit my project.  I used the word and phrase stickers along with the card and die-cuts in place of the squares. 

I  just love the blues and greens in this collection along with the wood grain paper.  Gorgeous!

For my second card, I used the Sidewalks collection along with some of the new Washi Tape from the 9 to 5 and some leaf stickers from Fly a Kite. 

I used the sun, banner sentiment, flowers, and petals in place of the squares in the sketch and came up with this fun and colorful. 

Sidewalks is definitely a collection I am drawn back to again and again.  I NEED to stockpile that yellow gingham paper.  It is definitely a fave!

Chartreuse

 Hey everyone!  This week on the Crate Paper Blog it was all about color... one color that is...  Chartreuse!

I created a couple of cards for this feature, and here they are:

So many of the Crate Paper collections contain Chartreuse, so I had a lot of different products to choose from. I just love mixing and matching patterns, so I used Chartreuse patterned papers from the Pretty Party, Story Teller, Paper Heart and Farmhouse collections.

I paired them with neutrals to create cards with a monochromatic look. I finished with neutral embellishments.

I normally don't create monochromatic projects, but I had so much fun with this.  I will definitely be trying it again!

ScrapbookSteals & We R Memory Keepers Sew Ribbon

Hey everyone!  A couple of weeks ago, I was contacted by Kristy at ScrapbookSteals to create some projects using the We R Memory Keepers Sew Ribbon tools and ribbon.  Of course I said yes!  Who can resist a chance to play with new tools?!  ;)  So... today I have some cards to share with you that I created using them.  This are really fun and easy tools to use, and they are perfect for cards (which I LOVE to make.)  

First off are a couple of cards I made using the Sew Ribbon Weave.

I created a stem for the flower using the Sew Ribbon Green Ribbon.  I added a few brads in the spaces between the ribbon, looped a piece of ribbon, and tucked it behind the laced ribbon for a leaf.  

Using the same Sew Ribbon Weave, I made a quick and easy card with a rainbow of ribbon-stitched lines. 

This card ‘pops’ with all of the rows of colorful ribbon.

For the next card, I used the Sew Ribbon Shoelace. 

I made a frame around my card with the Orange Ribbon.  To create the frame, I place the Sew Ribbon along the top and bottom of the card and punched.  For the sides, I flipped the paper over to punch.  It kept the ribbon slanting in the same direction.

For the next two cards I used the Sew Ribbon Leaf.  This one was my favorite!

For this card, I created a patterned background with the Aqua Ribbon.  I punched two rows together on the top and bottom of the card, and I added some large brads to the center of each pair.  I really love how this one turned out!

Here is my last card:

Instead of starting and stopping the threading at the edges, I started threading the ribbon at the inside from the front, reached it around the back, and finished threading it on the other side.  This allowed me to finish by tying the ends together in a bow.

Studio Calico Giveaway!!!

Hey everyone!  I was recently asked to play with the new March kit from Studio Calico, Story Hour.  It is full of gorgeous products, including some of the new papers and border stickers from Crate Paper's Story Teller collection.

I created two layouts for the Studio Calico blog, and here they are:

The first is layout about my youngest daughter, Harper.  I have been so inspired by quilting lately, and as you tell, that is the direction I went in with this layout.  I created a fun, patchwork background using all of the papers in the kit.  Don't they work together so well?!  I just love them!

I created the second layout about my dog, Hank.  He always wants to get up on the bed with me, and that sweet face makes it so hard to say no.

I was inspired again by a quilt I saw recently.  I just love the look of banners, so I created them back to back for a zigzag look.
